Experience

Denis specialises in construction law and dispute resolution within the Irish construction industry. His clients include Local Authorities, Project Promoters, Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers and Liquidators. Denis represents his clients in contentious matters both informally (mediation and conciliation) and formally (Arbitration, District, Circuit and High Court) in disputes to a value of €30 million. He also advises clients on a broad range of non-contentious matters: project documentation; procurement; building and engineering contracts (both standard form and bespoke); consultancy agreements, collateral warranties, bonds, defects (including pyrite issues), project mentoring, debt collection and insolvency. Denis’ 35 years experience, both as a construction professional and lawyer gives him a unique insight into construction disputes, that is being able to quickly identify and understand the technical issues at the heart of the dispute whilst having cognisance of the parties’ respective legal rights and obligations under the subject contract and/or at law.
